Dr Hyman switched careers from Civil Engineering to Medicine in 1972, graduating from the Autonomous Universidad of Guadalajara, Mexico in 1976. After a rotating internship and an obstetric and gynecology residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark, NJ, Dr Hyman was in solo practice until 1995 when he became a principal in developing Women's Health Care of Union County.

He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He began adding cosmetic services to his practice beginning with laser hair removal in 1999. He has had extensive retraining in cosmetic procedures; specifically liposuction, tummy tucks and breast augmentation. He became an instructor teaching other doctors the art of office based cosmetic surgery using local anesthesia. He qualified as a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Society of Lipo-Suction Surgery.
